1. Introduction
SpotlightSearch (“we”, “our”, or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the app works, what information it handles, and how your data is used.
By using SpotlightSearch, you agree to this policy.
2. Data Collection
2.1 Local Processing
- All searches, app launches, contact lookups, calculations, and translations happen entirely on your device.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit this data to any servers we control.
- If your device has a work profile, SpotlightSearch also lists the apps in it, so you can search and open them. The list, the launch counts and your hidden apps stay on your device. SpotlightSearch does not read any data inside the work profile’s apps.
- When your work profile’s policy allows it, contact search also looks up work contacts by the name you type. The lookup happens on your device, and SpotlightSearch stores no work contacts.
2.2 Google Suggestions
- When Google suggestions are on, SpotlightSearch sends what you type in the search bar to Google to fetch search suggestions.
- You can turn Google suggestions off in Settings → Features and Functionality → Manage web suggestions. When they are off, SpotlightSearch sends nothing you type to Google.
- Google’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
2.3 Translation Models
- Translation runs on your device with Google ML Kit. The text you translate never leaves your device.
- SpotlightSearch translates only when you ask: start with “translate”, or name the language (for example “thank you to French”).
- The first time you translate to or from a language, ML Kit downloads that language model from Google, only over Wi-Fi.
- Google’s handling of ML Kit is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
3. Data Sharing
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.
- The only external data transmissions are between your device and Google: search suggestions (when they are on) and translation model downloads.
4. Data Storage and Security
- No personal data is stored on any external servers by SpotlightSearch.
- All locally processed data remains on your device and is removed when you clear the app’s cache or uninstall the app.
5. Your Rights
Since SpotlightSearch does not collect or store personal data, we cannot provide access, modification, or deletion of such data.

6. Children’s Privacy
SpotlightSearch is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with an updated “Last Updated” date.

Google Play Data Safety Summary
